Demon Slayer has often topped Netflix records as one of the most-watched non-English TV series. The latest season of the much-loved anime, Pillar Training Edition, rocketed back up the streaming giant’s global rankings last week following its US premiere.
The global streamer will simulcast Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 4 in select regions from May to June 2024, finishing airing all eight episodes a few months ago. Throughout this course, the series based on Koyoharu Gotoge’s best-selling manga has always remained at the top of trends both domestically and internationally. However, the show eventually fell out of Netflix’s Global Top 10 (Non-English) TV rankings as a new anime was scheduled to premiere after its conclusion.

Why did Demon Slayer: Pillar Training Arc rejoin the Netflix race, even though it ended earlier this year?
The US Netflix premiere of Demon Slayer Season 4 was scheduled for October 31st. The film then re-occupied the number 5 spot as the most-watched non-English television series in the world for the week from October 28 to November 3, 2024. The brilliant comeback continued for a long time. The show has been in the top 10 for nine consecutive weeks, with 10.3 million hours watched and 2.6 million views this week alone.
Netflix’s Global Top 10 Other Anime Rankings
It wasn’t the only anime title with a Tanjiro Kamado-led storyline in the top 10 rankings. The recent Netflix premieres of Dan Da Dan and Dragon Ball DAIMA were well-received by viewers around the world with a large number of weekly episodes. The once supernatural thrilling tale expanded its four-week run as it was watched for 6.1 million hours and was viewed 3 million times in its second-place week.
In 10th place is the latest Dragon Ball series, which returns in its second week on the Netflix chart. It concluded the weekly rankings with 1.8 million views and 2.4 million hours watched.

While these two new series continue their journey, Demon Slayer is moving towards concluding the animated series with a final trilogy of movies rather than returning for a fifth season. The cinematic adventure will be distributed worldwide by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment and is expected to launch sometime in 2025.
