storyline
The season begins with a mission in which Wind Pillar and Serpent Pillar lead to the entrance of Infinity Castle, but it is sealed before they can enter. Meanwhile, at the main pillar camp, Tanjiro recovers beside Zenitsu and Inosuke. Kagaya’s wife, Amane, warns the pillars of the strange patterns that appear on the slashers. She alerts him to Muzan’s interest in Nezuko and begins a training plan for the corps.
The episode showcases Tanjiro’s training with different pillars, each with their own focus. The Water Pillar refuses to engage, while the Stone, Wind, Serpent and Love Pillars create individual sessions. Tanjiro undergoes training under Tengen, a former sound pillar who encourages the improvement of the entire corps. Hashira of Mist provides passionate coaching that tests patience, and Tanjiro’s resourcefulness brings the team closer together.

While Tanjiro and the corps train, Muzan hunts Nezuko. His network of spies is tracking the Legion’s movements, and the stakes are high. As the seventh episode of the series approaches, Muzan identifies the Hashira’s stronghold and confronts the weakened Ubuyashiki. In an unexpected twist, Ubuyashiki sacrifices himself to hurt Muzan, leading to Muzan trapping the pillars in Mugen Castle, leading to a high-stakes conflict.
manga adaptation
Demon Slayer Season 4 adapts the Pillar Training arc from chapters 128 to 136 of the manga. These chapters bridge the events of the Swordsmith’s Village arc and set up the final storyline known as the Mugen Castle arc.
Characters and cast
Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Nezuko return in season four. Water, Snake, Insect, Wind, Mist, Love, and Stone Pillars each play an important role in guiding Tanjiro and the other Slayers through a grueling training process. Former sound pillar Tengen also helps Tanjiro grow.
